In 1986, a woman named Guadalupe Carmona (Mama Lupita)
took in four abandoned children in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. Though she
already had four children of her own, she felt God's call to help those
less fortunate.
Casa Hogar Elim is now home to over 100 children of all ages.
Because the orphanage is privately run, it relies
completely upon private donations. Our wonderful church, Preston Trail, partners with Mama
Lupita to help her raise strong Christian men and women who will have a
positive impact on their community.
A group from Preston Trail makes visits to Casa Hogar Elim on a regular basis. Recently I contacted one of their ministry leaders asking what supplies the children are most in need of so we could have a collection before their next visit. She said diapers and baby wipes are most in need.
Last week we held a diaper drive and collected donations from daycare families as well as members of my women's bible study group. So for today's random act of kindness we gathered all our collected diapers and wipes and they will be delivered to the church tomorrow for Casa Hogar.
