It is National Pi Day! (yes, like 3.14). I'll be celebrating by supporting actual pie instead of solving math problems. I love hearing stories about people out there making a difference just one small act at a time. Today I read about some of those people...Sarah and Chris. OccuPIE Wednesdays was founded in July 2012 by Sarah and Chris and is a revolution that's all about love, kindness, fun,
and of course, delicious PIE. They are serving up the values of sharing
and equality, one slice at a time.
They started giving away free weekly pie in Ann Arbor but have now embarked on a mission around the country to serve pie and smiles. Sarah, their executive "Weirdo Do-Gooder", says she is "on a mission to change the world with the power of pie". They are a little over a week into their travels and have already covered 1700 miles and visited 7 states!!
Folks can support their cause by hosting them (you get free pie :) ) or by donating to cover items along the way including gas, car maintenance, supplies for serving the pies and of course ingredients. For today's random act of kindness I donated a couple of 5lb bags of apples to make 3 pies. I wish them the best on their journey and know they will definitely touch and inspire people all along the way!! Pie it Forward!!
