Being somewhat of a runner, and I use that term extremely loosely, I definitely appreciate all the running community is doing to support those affected by the tragic events at the Boston Marathon. The One Fund Boston is one of these efforts.
The One Fund Boston was established through the generosity of
businesses, foundations and individual donors. It was created at the
request of Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Massachusetts Governor
Deval Patrick. The Victim Relief Fund of The One Fund Boston will be
used to assist those families of the victims who were killed and the
victims who were most seriously affected as a result of the tragic
events during the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013.
Another fundraising effort that has be established is Run Now. It is a pledge drive that has been developed to encourage people to pledge to run as many miles as possible before National Running Day on June 5th, 2013. In addition to pledging miles individuals are able to make financial donations and/or purchase items to support Run Now and The One Fund.
So for today's random act of kindness I pledged to run 20 miles between now and June 5th and I purchased 5 Run Now bracelets to support The One Fund.
