Day 281 - Hosted a Virtual Food Drive

According to a new study by hunger-relief charity Feeding America, nearly 20 percent of Texans are food insecure, the condition of being unable to provide adequate food for a healthy life for all members of a household due to lack of money or other resources.  The data also showed that 38 percent of food-insecure Texans were above the poverty line and therefore ineligible for federal nutrition programs.

We want to do all we can to help so I thought this would be a great opportunity for a food drive.  Although I decided to take a little different route for this drive and host a virtual food drive.  It's through Feeding America and for every $1 donated 8 meals are provided to people in need.  I think people donating definitely get more bang for their dollar in comparison with a typical canned food drive.

So for today random act of kindness the kids and I decided to host a virtual food drive.  Our goal is to raise $500 by Thanksgiving which would provide 4,000 meals!!

If you are able to support our efforts that would be amazing!  Every dollar counts!  HERE is our food drive page.  Help stop hunger!
