Day 35 - Provided a Person with Clean Water for 25 years

I learned some very scary facts today about something most of us take completely for granted: clean water.  We shower in it, drink it, brush our teeth with it, flush our toilets with it, etc. without even thinking twice.

Today though I learned that 1.1 billion people lack access to clean drinking water, and nearly 2.5 million people die each year due to waterborne-related disease, 90% of which are children under the age of 5.  That is 1 child every 19 seconds.  Think of how many people will have died just in the time it takes you to read this!  So heartbreaking!

So for today's random act I purchased a t shirt from ThirstTees.  Every t-shirt purchased provides someone with 25 years of clean water.  ThirstTees partners with Thirst Relief International, a charity that builds wells and biosand filters throughout Africa, India, and South America.  Proceeds from each shirt go to building these wells and filters which can last 25 years or longer.
